About

An engineer by training, an educator by vocation.

Story

As a secondary school student I won a gold medal at the IENA inventions fair in Nuremberg. Ever since, the same question has guided me: how do you turn new technology into something people can learn and use?

I graduated in electrical engineering, majoring in automation, at the Faculty of Engineering in Rijeka, with exchanges in Vienna and Turin. For my final thesis I designed a remote laboratory for developing microprocessor systems.

In 2014 I wrote the first book about Arduino in Croatian and got in touch with Croatian Makers as an engineer who works with children on Arduino. For a year I taught electrical engineering and mechatronics at Pula Technical School, and in 2016 I moved to the Institute for Youth Development and Innovation. Through IRIM I led the Croatian Makers League, which grew to 600 schools in Croatia and later went on to four more countries, and I worked on projects that brought micro:bits, robots and equipment for learning technology to schools and libraries in six countries. In 2018 the Croatian Parliament awarded me the Faust Vrančić State Award for Technical Culture, on IRIM’s nomination.

Alongside this I write and edit textbooks for Školska knjiga, from Praktične vještine (practical skills) for the youngest pupils to a series of vocational textbooks for secondary schools.

I began bringing AI into schools through IRIM in 2022, with a project that brought AI cameras and teacher training to more than 300 schools. Today it is at the centre of everything I do. Through IRIM I launched the first national Vibe Coding League and wrote four handbooks on AI in education, and I run my own work with a team of AI agents. What I learn by doing, I pass on to teachers, publishers and companies.

I live in Galižana near Vodnjan, in Istria. I speak Croatian, English and Italian.
