An engineer who believes in the power of education.
What I learn through my work I turn into educational solutions, from an after school workshop to a formal textbook, and I advise schools, publishers and companies that build educational solutions.
The thread
Since 2014 one idea has guided everything I do. When a technology catches my interest, I first try it out on my own desk, and then I look for a path by which it can reach those who learn. That is how Arduino got its first book in Croatian in 2014, how the micro:bit reached more than a thousand schools and institutions through the STEM Revolution, how AI cameras reached more than 300 schools in 2022, and how building apps with AI became a national school league in 2025.
That is why I don't see what I do as a list of jobs, but as a circle in which one thing feeds another. In programmes and competitions, with thousands of teachers and children, I see what really works in the classroom, and that then takes a lasting shape in a textbook or a handbook. I help companies give their hardware the content that makes schools want it, and project applications give all of this scale, so that a good idea doesn't stay in a single classroom.

Programmes and competitions through IRIM
Since 2016 I have worked through IRIM on programmes in which equipment, mentor training and competition go together. To date IRIM's projects have reached 350,000 children in Croatia and 4,500 teachers, educators and mentors, and they have been carried out in six countries.

Croatian Vibe Coding League
initiator, lead, curriculum author and jury member · 2025 to 2026
The first national school programme for building apps with the help of AI.
155 schools

Pupils today are often left to their own devices when it comes to using AI, so through IRIM I launched a league in which they use it openly, with the goal of every team building its own app. I wrote the curriculum, led the league and sat on the jury.
We planned for 50 schools, and in the end 155 schools and 230 teachers worked in the league. Of the 217 entries submitted, ten made it to the final.
The league was supported by the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth, EDIH CROBOHUB++ and Telemach.

Croatian Makers League
programme lead · 2016 to 2025
The largest continuous robotics programme in Croatia, with equipment, mentor training and competition.
600 schools

The Croatian Makers movement, and above all the League as its first project, brings together three things a school struggles to solve on its own: equipment, mentor training and a competition that gives a reason to work all year round. Through IRIM I led the league from 2016 to 2025.
The league grew to 600 schools in Croatia, working with the mBot and Maqueen educational robots.
It was later also run in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Montenegro, with donated equipment and training for local mentors.

AI in primary school through cameras and hands-on work, with our partner The European Wergeland Centre from Oslo.
600 AI cameras

We recognised the potential of AI early, and as far back as 2023 we brought it into schools through hands-on work, building on the Croatian Makers League. We donated 600 AI cameras to schools, developed a curriculum and teaching materials, trained and mentored teachers and organised competitions for pupils.
Our partner was The European Wergeland Centre from Oslo, and the project closed with a conference in Crikvenica in September 2023.
The project reached more than 300 schools, and it also gave rise to the handbook Umjetna inteligencija u STEM edukaciji (AI in STEM education), which I edited with Maja Mačinko.

Digital Citizen grew out of the STEM Revolution in libraries. It was a regional digital literacy programme in libraries in Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, funded by Google.org.
Libraries received micro:bits, BOSON experiment kits and 3D printers, which members of the public can use and borrow openly and free of charge, and librarians received training to run workshops.
In the first phase 176 libraries were equipped, and there were 83 workshops for librarians and 1,512 free workshops for the public, with 13,105 participants and 20,059 equipment loans. I was the STEM education expert and led the follow up, Digital Citizen 2.0.

The STEM Revolution began in 2017 with a Croatian Makers crowdfunding campaign for micro:bits in schools, and over time the micro:bit reached around 1,000 educational institutions. It continued with the ProMikro programme, in which sixth graders in 85% of primary schools in Croatia received a micro:bit.
In 2018 the STEM Revolution in libraries brought more than 3,000 micro:bits to more than 110 libraries, and Digital Citizen grew out of it.
With the Rotary Club Zagreb Centar and Rotary District 1913, the STEM Revolution also reached the lower primary classroom, from first to fourth grade. In 2019 the pilot covered 58 schools in Vukovar-Srijem, Virovitica-Podravina and Osijek-Baranja counties.

Praktične vještine (practical skills) builds the basic knowledge, skills and fine motor control that almost every lower primary pupil lacks today. The series covers timeless topics, from housekeeping, creative projects and road safety to small repairs, sewing and healthy eating.
Each grade gets a kit for 35 hours of lessons, with step by step picture instructions and all the tools, equipment and materials, and teachers get a handbook and an annual teaching plan. Every grade also has a board game on financial literacy.
I have been developing the series for Školska knjiga since 2023, and for now it is being run experimentally, within the full day school project.
- Praktične vještine 1, 23 exercises and the game Učim o novcu (Learning about money)
